Tim Bevans and Connie LeMoine and their Crew did a fantastic job
especially taking on three rodeos. And as if running three rodeos
weren't enough, they held a barrel jackpot, a ladies breakaway
jackpot and a team roping jackpot at the same time... whew!

The weather couldn't have been better, same for the hospitality
and all the fun both inside and outside of the arena.

The CSPRA is looking for anyone who is interested in
becoming a sponsor for the 2017 finals. If you or
someone you know would be interested, please contact

Kim Grayson at 403-804-5670
to see what type of opportunities are available.

Thank you again to our Cowgirl Saddle Sponsor
Frontier Western Shop

(photo: Owner, Travis Booth, presenting saddle to 2016 High Point Cowgirl, Margo FitzPatrick)

to the
Wetaskiwin Rodeo Committee!!!

By all accounts, and the many fun-filled and sometimes
mud-filled photos on facebook, these new rodeos were
a great success. We hear that even some of the town
dignitaries were out and spoke of the hope that the
CSPRA would come back to rodeo again in the future.

Congratulations to you all!

A huge THANK YOU goes out to
Bud Clemons from Kersey, CO

As the winner of the "Young at Heart" Match Calf Roping,
Bud generously donated half his winnings ($500) to
CSPRA and the other half to the NSPRA Cowboy Crisis Fund.
With our share we are setting up a scholarship fund at
the Olds College for future cowboys and cowgirls.

Thank you for your kindness Bud!!!

And THANK YOU to the following cowboys for donating
$100 each to make up the winning purse:

Craig FitzPatrick, Lynn Turcato, Bob Stoddard, Jerry Martin, Kent Mosher,
Karl Tyler, Dan Levine R.C. Herrera, Savass Halikas & Darby Rodeo Assoc.

We are now accepting bookings for our 2017 Finals
running October 12-15, 2017. Cost is $25/day for all
vendors and practioners operating in the agriplex.

Please call Dawn Brooks at 403-390-3971 to book a space!

Thank you so much to:
Willow Creek Rodeo Committee
Standoff Rodeo Committee
Magrath Rodeo Committee

Our 5-rodeo south run of Willow Creek(Stavely), Standoff and
Magrath is complete and by all accounts (and posted
facebook photos) more great times were had thanks to all
the hard-working committees who put on some great shows!

"YOUNG AT HEART" Match Calf Roping
JW Campbell (Canada) vs Bud Clemons (USA)

Age is just a number for 2 senior rodeo cowboys
                                                                        - NBC Montana News
                                                       - kpax.com

Whoever said rodeo is a young man's game has clearly never seen the National
Senior pros do their thing. That was proven on Tuesday in Darby where a pair of
Octogenarians went head-to-head in a calf-roping contest for the ages.

The CSPRA can no longer take payout cheques or
other third party cheques to pay for rodeo fees.

Should any rodeo committee wish to cash these cheques,
it will totally be the responsibility of that committee.
Please check with the individual Rodeo Secretaries prior
to their rodeo should you require this service.

All Around Cowboy and All Around Cowgirl saddle winners
will be determined by the total of 2017 season points
and will not include the Finals points.

Just a reminder that we will
  be including the LBR68+ age
group at our Finals this year!!!

You will need to qualify the same way as in other
events; having competed in five rodeos on Canadian
soil and be in the top ten in the points standings.

ALSO... If you do go down to the Montana Rodeos we will count
you in the LBR68+ for points up here, but in order for points to
be given out there must be a contest of at least two 68+ members
or more, competing at any rodeo to obtain any points.

So call your fellow 68+ers and make sure
you have a competitor going too!

Canadian Senior Pro Rodeo Association  --  Rodeo Forever!

The Canadian rodeo season starts in April with rodeos scattered across Western Canada throughout the spring, summer
and fall. The Canadian Finals are a sudden death finals held in October at the Claresholm Agriplex, Claresholm, Alberta.

Contestants compete in such events as Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, Tie Down Roping, Men's and Ladies Breakaway, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Bull Riding, Team Roping and Ribbon Roping. Included in the opportunity to enjoy Senior Pro Rodeo is the choice to head south of the border to rodeos hosted by the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association.

The CSPRA now offers the options of hosting a "full" CSPRA rodeo, a "timed event only" rodeo or a "roughstock only" rodeo. A timed event only rodeo will consist of tie down roping, breakaway roping, ladies barrel racing, ribbon roping, team roping and steer wrestling. All rodeos have to follow the CSPRA rule book to be sanctioned. Please contact the committee representative or your event director with any questions. Be advised that the NSPRA has moved to a “region” format since the 2014 season and included in the Canadian region will be ALL CSPRA rodeos as well as those rodeos occurring in Montana.

* The CSPRA accepts credit cards
(Visa & Mastercard only)
a $10.00 service charge
will be added on all transactions.

* Ideas, questions, concerns, or any other general information
is welcomed by the Board. Contact an event director to
discuss what is going on in the CSPRA and watch for our
page in the monthly Rodeo Connection magazine.
