On behalf of all Heather Grant-From’s family, we thank you so graciously from our hearts for all your kind words of comfort, the beautiful cards of well wishes and sympathy, and for all the wonderful bouquets of flowers and fruit baskets. You will never know what this means to all her family; she touched so many hearts and inspired so many with her grace and fortitude. She kept on smiling even though her health was failing, and we all marveled at her inner strength. If there is anything to learn in the loss of a loved one, it would be to love each other and enjoy your time here everyday. Heather did.
We miss her deeply and she will live on within each of us forever.

Susan Grant

Proposed by Roy McPeak that the format for the Canadian Championship be changed according to the following:

All contestants placing in the top ten would have equal opportunity to win the Canadian Championship. Contestants would take the season points, and add the finals points that would be doubled, (480 points) plus the average points, (120 points). For a possible 600 available points. This would give all contestants including the All Around contestants a fun race for the Canadian
Championships. The high point finals contestant would be declared Finals Champion.

For example, a contestant qualifying at five rodeos and the tenth place finalist with the minimum points would also have a chance for the Canadian Championship.  I feel that this would keep up the entries and interest of all rodeo contestants and fans through to the Finals at the end of the year.

This proposed format change will be reviewed by the Board and will be discussed at the Finals General Meeting in October at the CSPRA Finals.

Best wishes to Eunice Erwin for a speedy recovery after having a knee replacement.

I went to my first Canadian Finals this year to compete in the breakaway competition. This note is to thank the Canadian Senior Pro Board for approving the jackpot and sanctioning this competition next year. I really enjoy the level of competition and support all the participants provide. The women really support each other and made me feel apart.

Thank you to Don and Brenda Knight for their sponsorship and the jacket. My first ever and thank you to Shawna Burton for her sponsorship and support of the Breakaway competition.

This memory will last me a lifetime.

Thank you so much,

Kathy Bradley

Hi,
As most of you may know by now I am facing surgery and there is an element of cancer involvement.

Your flowers in beautiful autumn rusts, corals, lime and greens and yellow were a welcome surprise and will probably last to the day of my surgery. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and caring. That you took the time to do this has been a great encouragement to me.

God bless you all,
Terri Thompson

Congratulations to all the winners of the 2007 finals.  I wish I could have been there, but am glad to be on this side of the grass, so I'll make plans for next year.  My sister delivered the chair and card yesterday, and I want to thank everyone for the nice card and kind words.  I saw my surgeon today, and although he didn't quite get the Sandra Bullock look I requested prior to the surgery, the cheek looks good.  As long as I can stay away from any fist fights for another month or so I'm good to go, and have a green light to get back to the salt mines.  Take care, and thanks again.
Sincerely,
Shawna Burton

The 15th Annual Will James Gather in Medicine Hat, October 11-14, 2007
Welcome Home, Will James!” - A four-day ‘Cowboy Culture Experience’ featuring western art, music,
cowboy poetry, crafts, books, films, tours, exhibits, storytelling, receptions & good food...

ABOUT  WILL  JAMES

Born in Canada, Ernest DuFault left home and family at age 15 and travelled west to find his dream. He became the American cowboy, Will James. Starting at the bottom, he worked and became a top hand. Handling rough horses occupied his days and became the basis for many of his books.

His talent for drawing and writing, coupled with injuries from too many rough horses, soon led him from the working cowboy life to that of a full time artist and author. In all, 24 books of Will James' self-illustrated stories were published. Three of them became major motion pictures. His best know story, Smoky the Cowhorse, won the 1927 Newbery Award and was made into a movie three times.

His words and pictures touched the hearts and minds of youths and adults alike. His life and stories prompted many young men to follow their own dreams in the great American West.

ABOUT  THE  SOCIETY
The Will James Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the works and memory of a great western author and artist, Will James.

The Will James society serves as a catalyst for those interested in Will James. Along with the Will James Art Company and Mountain Press, the Society promotes the reprinting and redistribution of James' works to schools and public libraries.

At our annual Convention and Show, original Will James art, books and memorabilia are available for viewing and purchase.
